A mix bag of Photos from the past month

So I haven’t been that diligent about updating my blog. So in an attempt to catch up I thought I may as well do one post with a bunch of rando slideshows that I shot and liked (liked being the operative word here).

So the first slideshow is a few singles from the past couple of weeks. The first image is from a standoff on the day before Thanksgiving that resulted in a suicide. I also shot a teacher who has won awards and grants for using technology in the classroom, the Gov.’s budget announcement, a rehearsal for Capitol Theater’s production of the Nutcracker, a college rock-climbing competition, a kid crying on Santa’s lap and a breakfast with Santa.

The next slideshow is from a funeral I covered a few weeks ago. It was for one of the members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. Basically it is the board of directors for the LDS church. The funeral itself was pretty big and was held in the Tabernacle on the Temple grounds in downtown SLC. Security was extremely tight, and the fact that they had their own secret police force out in full force gave me the heebie jeebies.

Finally, this slideshow is from the beginning of the month. I went with some firefighters who work for the forest service to do a prescribe burn of underbrush in an attempt to protect against the spread of fires. It was really fun because we had to 4×4 up to the trail head and then we hiked around the mountains all day. The humidity wasn’t right to burn all of their underbrush piles so we spent the rest of the day filming the prep work (basically they cut the hell out of all the low hanging limbs with chainsaws.) Anyway, it was a nice day.
