Fall

For the first time in 3 years I get to re-experience fall. I love October in Utah. It is a time of year that could make anyone fall in love with the place. I am a little too late for the ubiqiutous Aspen groves at the top of Big Cottonwood canyon to be in full color. ((Sigh) I wish I was here two weeks ago). Nonetheless there are still pockets of color a bit lower in the canyon as well as on the foothills. It is all gold now, no more red and orange, as Autumn is making its way for the enveloping white of Winter. Click photo for more

Half a Motor Bike

Sometimes you find randomness. Park City tends to have a lot of randomness. You can find things in weird places that were once lost to the inevitable snow, only to be found by the equally inevitable defrost. I think people here tend to leave these traces to the snow gods in hopes they will return again.

Carving Pumpkins

So Julie and I carved pumpkins the other night. She carved the one with the “D” and I carved the other one. It only took me 2 hours this year as opposed to the 4 hour Jack Skellington pumpkin I carved last year.

Street

Today, I went to downtown L.A. to try and shoot some street photos. I went to Olvera Street and Union Station. I don’t know why, but I have been seeing a lot of emptiness lately. Not really in any traditional sense, but a sort-of static tension between subject and environment that creates a sense of emptiness or quietude. (I dunno if this makes any sense whatsoever, but I noticed it after shooting at the salt flats).

The light in Union Station let me explore this a little bit. Click photo for more.

The Getty

In the two years she has lived in SoCal, Julie has never visited The Getty before. We changed that on Saturday despite the rain. It was little a little quiet though. Click on picture for more.
